In this program, you will learn the state of global immigration, discover permanent resident and citizenship opportunities through investments and discover what countries offer these programs. We will teach you how to conduct initial interviews and identify the needs of your clients. You will acquire the ability to identify and assess risks associated with wealth migration and how to mitigate taxation, legal and political risks. You will find the most efficient routes of immigration in a corporate context. Introduction to Global Migration Systems

This module introduces you to the key factors that drive the global migration system. It will also illustrate the overall global landscape in acquiring permanent residencies and citizenships through investment by exploring many different countries that offer such schemes. This basic knowledge will aid you in later modules to help your client to choose the best immigration destination suitable to their needs and traits.

Getting to Know Your Client

This module instructs you on how to work with your Global Citizen, provide them with professional service and prudent advice. This includes how to conduct an initial interview to best identify their needs, traits, and possible barriers. Realistic case studies will provide you with the opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the process and hone your skills in research and conducting interviews.

Global Asset Management

This module introduces you to the world of Global Asset Management, how it impacts a high-net-worth investor’s ability to acquire permanent residency or citizenship through investment, and how you can help global investors manage their assets and funds across the world. This involves understanding the notion of evidence-based accumulation of wealth, investigating problems and finding solutions to international money transfer. You will also learn to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to investments posed by economic, political, and environmental issues.

International Business Law

This module is an introduction to international laws and treaties that can impact your prospect. The main goal is to provide guidance on how to research international jurisdictions and legislations regarding business structure, immigration, taxation, extradition, human rights, and admissibility. The module will also explore the regulations and legal powers of immigration professionals in different jurisdictions and how that may impact your ability to represent your prospect.

Global Taxation Systems

This module examines the Global Taxation systems and how to leverage a favourable tax solution for high net worth clients while ensuring their global mobility remains intact. This module uses the Harvard Business School case-study-based teaching pedagogy wherein students will learn to create bespoke Tax planning strategies to achieve their client’s Tax planning objective while keeping in line with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) policies.

International Business Practices

In this module students will learn about international business practices specific to professionalism, operational practices, marketing strategies, financial strategies as well as developing a professional prospectus germane to the ultimate game plan of the individual student.

John P. Ryan

OSJ, KStG, C.GIS, RCIC, ICD.D, C.Dir, ASC, A.C.C., H.R.C.C.C.

John has enjoyed a diversified career that includes International experience as Corporate Director, Senior Manager, Public Servant and Entrepreneur.

As a public servant, John has had the privilege of serving Canada as Senior Immigration Officer, Customs Inspector and a Commissioned Officer in the Armed Forces. He was awarded Grant of Arms by the Governor-General of Canada in 1998 in recognition of his contribution to the community. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

As a corporate director, John has been sitting in various non-profit and for-profit boards during his career in corporate Governance. He is the award winner of the Gill Bennett Award in Corporate Governance in 2010 and he was also a fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) USA in 2011.

As an entrepreneur, he started up various businesses including VSI, Aerie Leisure Inc. and Splashvox Inc. He also set up various profitable businesses for the boards he has served. He is an expert in both immigration consulting and corporate director/senior executive education.

John is also a licensed realtor in BC and an FAA licensed private pilot.

Imran Qayyum

C.GIS, FCMI, ICD.D, C.Dir, ASC, A.C.C., RCIC

Imran has been a practising immigration consultant for over 26 years and specializes in family, skilled worker and business class immigration. He has been a strong advocate for the promotion and enhancement of the Immigration Consulting profession. He regularly participates in consultative meetings with Citizenship and Immigration Canada on matters involving immigration policy and operational procedures and has been invited on several occasions to appear as a witness in front of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM) to give testimony on issues pertaining to Canada’s immigration system being examined by the Committee. In addition, Imran regularly contributes to immigration matters for Canadian media.

Throughout his career, Imran has been closely involved with the progression of Canada’s Immigration Consulting profession and firmly believes that in order to provide competent service, all immigration professionals must undergo a formal education program of immigration studies to gain the core competencies needed to understand Canada’s complex immigration laws and policies. To that end, he teaches and mentors on a regular basis.

Dianne Normandeau

C.GIS, RCIC

Dianne Normandeau is a Global Immigration Consultant with over 25 years of experience in the industry. She runs her own immigration consultancy practice in the province of Quebec, Canada. Throughout her career, she has assisted individuals from around the globe to immigrate and settle mainly in Canada, but also in the USA and other countries. Over the last ten years, she taught and prepared professionals with diverse backgrounds in becoming immigration consultants. She has contributed to course development projects, including one with the Institute of Global Immigration Specialists (IGIS). She is looking forward to assisting you in successfully achieving your career goals.

Holly Gracey

C.GIS, RCIC

Holly has been involved in the immigration consulting profession for close to 35 years. She has a passion for teaching and has been an instructor since 2009. In addition, she has also taught at immigration consulting educational conferences at both a national and regional level. She has consistently proven her dedication to her chosen profession by holding several key positions on boards of directors and committees instrumental in the development and growth of the immigration consulting profession.

Holly is the Managing Director and Secretary of R.M.G. Consultants Ltd. She specializes in Canadian immigration applications for all federal and provincial economic classes with special emphasis on business classes, temporary classes (including visitor and student) and worker family classes specific to spouses and parents, as well as dependent and adopted children.

Dr. Saqlain Halim

Dr. Halim possesses extensive international experience in senior executive management positions and a multidisciplinary academic background with a doctorate and five master’s degrees among several other qualifications in Business Administration, Computer Information Science, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Technology, Airframe Technology, and Powerplant Technology.

As President, Xymius Education Group, Dr. Halim has been helping institutions and businesses for years with their international business needs. In the past, as President and Chief Academic Officer, he managed a large, complex multinational educational consortium with executive management degree program offerings in several countries. He has repeatedly helped numerous institutions and businesses representing a wide range of industries with a strategic turnaround, management of change, rapid business expansion, and international partnerships. He has lived and worked in many countries, managed several institutions, taught, lectured, and trained senior civil servants and their trainers, business owners, and corporate executives from around the world.

Dr. Halim has published over 100 articles covering a wide range of topics and has been the recipient of numerous international awards for academic and professional excellence from prestigious honour societies.

Tina is the Chair of Canadian Migration Institute, the President of Visa Seminars International Inc.—a reputable immigration consulting firm based in Vancouver Island and the General Partner of US-based Aerie Leisure LLP. Tina is also a US FAA licensed Private Pilot and a Co-author of PCTIA accredited immigration educational program CSIC E-Academy, an instructor and a bilingual entrepreneur who has conducted business successfully in different countries such as China, Canada and the USA.

Who is IGS?


The Institute of Global Specialists (IGS) is a not-for-profit college located in St. John, New Brunswick (CAN). However, IGS students may complete their courses from anywhere in the world, provided they have access to a reliable internet connection.

How are the classes delivered?

 

Our programs are 100% online and are accessible by all mobile devices. Students will simply need access to a reliable internet connection to access their student account. Study materials are pre-recorded or readings, slides, so you get to schedule your own study time. As long as you are meeting the deadlines for your assignments, quizzes and discussions, you’re good to go. Final course exams are typically scheduled on the last weekend of the course.


Instructors are available via email for additional guidance regarding course materials, and IGS staff will assist with any technical questions. While some courses don’t have live classes, they are designed to accommodate live interactions in the form of virtual office hours, as needed.

What are the entrance requirements? How do I apply?

 

A demonstrated ability in English and prior studies at a post-secondary level or relevant professional experience: submission of a resume. We may request further documentation.

What is the Cost of the IGS programs? Is financial assistance available?

 

Each module for every program costs CAD$586+tax where applicable. Students can pay as they go (course-by-course).

A non-refundable CAD$175 (plus tax) application fee is also required.

Financing options for 18, 24 or 30 months are also available. CAD$586+tax initial payment is required before the start of the first module.

How long are the IGS programs?

 

The IGS programs have 6, 7, 8 or 9 modules; and each module is 4-5 weeks long.

 

  • Foreign Service and International Development Specialist program (FSIDS): 6 modules (24 weeks)
  • Global Immigration Specialist program (GIS): 6 modules (26 weeks)
  • Global Supply Chain Specialist program (GPS): 7 modules (26 weeks)
  • Canada Border Service Specialist program (CBSS): 7 modules (29 weeks)
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Specialist Program (AIML): 7 modules (28 weeks)
  • Global Education Specialist program (GES): 8 modules (39 weeks)

IGS students can join our free career placement module. This module is designed to support IGS students to transition seamlessly to a job, and understand the numerous pathways to various career opportunities. From writing their resume, cover letters, to tips on how to best navigate the job application process and handling a job interview, students will gain practical skills to help them succeed in their post-program endeavours. The module also focuses on helping IGS students develop engagement strategies, and identify networks and job opportunities with the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
